the home of an eclectic mix of independently published books by author Tessa Hillman. Based in Cornwall, Top of the Village Publishing is solely dedicated to books with informative, compelling yoga stories, Native American Laws of Life and Traditions, and Tessa Hillman’s own personal memoir. These books are inspired by yoga philosophy, spirituality and the journeys we can all face during life.
Guptananda’s Stories – an online book, published 2008, was taken off line when the revised edition was published in Autumn 2019, and was turned into the following two books:
The Great Little Book of Yoga Stories, (BOOK 1) paperback and ebook, each story illustrated with black and white pen drawings. Available on Amazon.co.uk, and in US on Amazon.com .
This book is about the Rules of Life, also known as the Yamas and Niyamas, and is suitable for middle grade children, yoga students, parents and teachers. It provides a light hearted way of teaching the moral code through stories about the Guru, Guptananda.
Yoga Stories from Guru Guptananda, (BOOK 2) paperback and ebook. Each story is illustrated with black and white pen drawings. It is available on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com, published April 11, 2022, by Top of the Village Publishing.
This book is about the 8 Limbs of Yoga, the Chakras and the Gunas. It explains yoga philosophy through stories that make you smile and think; it is about the Guru’s life as a child and a young man.

Book 3, Memoir of a Sceptical Seeker ,
My memoir about how, as a trained scientist and being very sceptical of all things ‘spiritual’, life changed for me at the age of 43. As a result of joining a Spiritual Development Circle, I discovered my gifts, I became a channel for helpful stories and spiritual guidance. I learnt healing techniques, then started to have visions, significant dreams, and other spiritual happenings.
I have written the book about these events to encourage people to develop the spiritual side of themselves, as it will add immeasurably to their lives and to the lives of those around them. I think this is especially important now after the Pandemic and various wars springing up in a number of countries.
The World is evolving rapidly due to climate change, never to be the same again. We need as much help as we can get to deal with this crisis, and from personal experience I know spiritual help is available to us. We just need to want it and to seek it out.
After the release of the Limited Edition of this Memoir in March 2024, feedback and reviews have been added to the New First Edition. I have included a further chapter because there have been some very surprising developments involving the Fairy Realm, for me in 2024. A physical visitation and a message came to me.
After some research, see http://www.fairyist.com (where you can find a census of over 1000 fairy sightings) I have found that many other people have experienced such things. Maybe you will too? This edition was published in Summer 2025. It is available on Amazon as a paperback and an ebook .
Book 4, A book of Native American stories from Calling Horse, a Tribal Chief from times gone by, who gave me (by channelling) two sets of stories to illustrate the Laws of Life, and the Human Energy Centres. Many of these stories are available on this blog, and will be made into a paperback, an ebook and an audiobook in 2025/26.
