There’s a lot of uncertainty in the UK at the moment,  I’m wondering if we are paying the price for accepting clever talk and dishonesty in our leaders. We have had a new prime minister who has resigned within a month of being in post, and the old one who was pushed out in disgrace is vying for a return within just a few weeks of having left. The astonishing thing is, it is said that of the three contenders for the post he is the favourite amongst Tory part members on Sat 22nd Oct at least! A smooth talking, jovial, lovable rogue, an Eton College boy, well trained in public speaking. A columnist for a daily newspaper for years, willing to twist the facts to the advantage of his peers – the already rich voters who like him to be in power.

This song, based on Sam Cookes tune “Changes Gonna Come” came into my mind two weeks before ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigned.

Song/ Poem : Change is Gonna Come

When our leaders are liars

And truth goes to Jail

And those that complain most

Get refused any bail

 Chorus:

It’s been a long

A long time coming

But I know a change is gonna come

Oh yes it will

When oppression is normal,

and the rich rob the poor,

red or blue don’t seem to matter,

Truth is, they don’t care.

Chorus  Its been a long time

When my colour is different

And your face turns away

And you think you are better

But that’s not what you say

Chorus

When the heat burns my homeland,

And my crops are all gone,

And there ain’t nothing, nothing left at all

For me to live on

Chorus

Will we share what we’re left with,

Or fight tooth and nail

Or all work together

If we don’t we’ll all fail.

Chorus

It’s been a long

A long time coming

But I know a change is gonna come

Oh Yes it will
