The Third Eye

This centre is found in the middle of the forehead between the eyebrows. It is the sixth energy centre, known as the Ajna Chakra in Sanskrit.  This is a very mysterious centre to many from the West who have no belief or understanding of psychic abilities. This centre is responsible for our intuition.  When we get a very strong feeling that something is so and it proves to be so, then it could be our intuition or third eye that is telling us this.

When a person has a very active third eye we call them ‘psychic’ or perhaps clairvoyant. They may be able to see aspects of the future, or hear or see the spirit world.  Everyone has a certain amount of psychic ability.  This gives rise to feelings about people and situations.

It is interesting to test your intuition, but only if it is safe to do so, always use the intellect first.  If your mind tells you something would definitely not be wise or safe to risk, but you think your intuition tells you it would be, go with the mind, don’t do it.  If, however, your intuition tells you to do something, and your mind says ‘Yes, it’s OK.  There’s not much to lose.  It’s safe,’ then you may want to try it.  See what happens…It is easy to get carried away with this sort of thing, the imagination can take over if we are not careful!  As always, apply wisdom and common sense, and don’t believe everything that is said by people who say they are psychic!  They might not be, and even if they are, are they using this gift with wisdom and respect, or are they trying to impress or control other people?’ The third eye provides intellectual energy and is involved in work of higher creativity such as composing music, writing poetry or literature, inventing things and creating exquisite works of art.

The power of the third eye can be increased and developed, as can the power of the other chakras by both physical and mental exercises such as yoga and meditation.  It is always recommended to find a wise teacher if we want to develop this part of ourselves.
